Jardines del Rey

This archipelago off the northern coast of Cuba has gained a reputation as one of the world’s best dive spots. The environmentally protected area ensures the marine life is given the opportunity to thrive. When diving expect to see marine treasures such as barracuda, jewfish and reef sharks, this is the best dive to see sharks and it is not uncommon to see up to 20 at a time!

Isla de la Juventud

It is all too easy to cocoon yourself in your villa with a private pool in Havana, but you won’t find huge mogotes and shoals of glass fish to greet you in your pool. The Isla de la Juventud (or Isle of Youth as it is also known) has 56 dive sites, the most in Cuba. Many experienced divers go to see the Blue Cave, where you enter through a tunnel. It’s a thrilling and spectacular dive that stretches more than 1,500 metres down.

Tiburones Toro

As Tiburon is the Spanish word for shark you can pretty much guess what you will see here! Choose a clear day to see the sharks being fed by experienced masters, and don’t wear red – the sharks are attracted to the colour of blood!

El Acuario

This dive site is situated in Cayo Largo and hosts an abundance of turtles, iguanas and pelicans – perfect even for non-divers to visit. Look out for stingrays, cat sharks and turtles moving stealthily among the coral reefs.
